My story

Rangers are Africa’s unsung heroes. They hold diverse roles as conservationists, teachers, community support workers, leaders and much more

The Wildlife Ranger Challenge, organised by Tusk, is a celebration of solidarity, connection and camaraderie for the ranger profession. culminating on 16th September 2023, the campaign raises vital funds for Africa's biodiversity guardians.

Gashaka Gumti National Park is the largest, most diverse and scenic park in Nigeria. It serves as an important catchment for the Benue River catering for millions of people. It’s a refuge to some threatened and endangered species of flora and fauna, such as two species of pangolins, the Nigeria Cameroon chimpanzees, African rosewood trees and African walnut trees.

The park has been put under severe pressure by illegal activities such as logging, poaching, mining and cattle grazing. To deal with these issues, ANI has trained and deployed rangers from the communities around the park and has given them the best training available in Africa by Conservation Outcomes. Modern equipment for proper monitoring and documentation of field observation is used by these rangers. These technologies also shape how deployments are made to ensure every part of the park is given adequate protection.

WRC has encouraged the spirit of camaraderie and friendly competition among rangers. The solidarity and passion to protect nature is truly inspiring.

The support in 2023 will go a long way in providing more kit and equipment for rangers and also provide a means of livelihood by recruiting more rangers to protect this beautiful endowment of nature in Nigeria.

Give today and the Scheinberg Relief Fund will match every dollar donated, amplifying your impact. Join us in speaking up #ForWildlifeRangers

ANI Foundation is not just invested in protection and law enforcement but also in community and livelihood development. Different programs for women groups have been developed such as shear nut processing, rice processing, energy efficient cooking methods to reduce excess burning of wood, plus more programs in the pipeline. Conservation education in schools through clubs and field trips are systematically carried out to enlighten the young minds.
